Our Purpose
The Davis Phoenix Coalition exists to engage and unite the Davis community in eliminating intolerance, preventing hate, and promoting a broader civic culture that embraces all aspects of our diverse community.
What We Do:
Programs
Our programs run year-round, providing services and support for our marginalized communities as well as teaching the broader community ways to intervene in situations of bullying, bias, and injustice.
Events
Our annual Davis Pride celebration is our signature event. We also organize film screenings, panel discussions, vigils and demonstrations, festivals, and fundraisers. We frequently co-sponsor events with local nonprofit partners as well as UC Davis.
Outreach
Find us at local events such as performances, civic observances, and faith community gatherings. When we table at an event, we can bring information about our organization and our services, or we can provide an interactive activity for community learning. Our YouTube channel includes our informative Office Hours videos, and you can also find recordings of DPC-hosted episodes of Hello, Davis!, a radio show broadcast over local station KDRT 95.7 FM.
Trainings
Eliminating intolerance takes a combination of knowledge and skill. Our trainings aim to educate the wider community about the facts and realities of LGBTQ+ and immigrant neighbors in Yolo County. We also provide trainings on advocacy skills such as giving public comment at government forums for adults and youth. Our newest training is for parents and other caregivers to recognize signs of online radicalization in youth and how to prevent it.
